Hello, I am Ain

...THE STORY THAT BEGAN WITH A THREAD…

I have been an observer for as long as I can remember.

As a child, I watched people – their movements, their words, the things around me, and the world itself. Especially during difficult times, I often found myself retreating into observation. Much of what I saw and felt back then is still stored in my heart today.

I could spend hours simply observing.

People. Things. Colours. Movements.

And perhaps that is where my journey began: with the quiet art of noticing.

My story with yarn and handcraft began long before I knew how to knit. I watched my mother knitting. For hours.

One day, the right moment came.

I picked up her knitting needles and the work she had begun – and started knitting myself.

I didn't really know what I was doing. I didn't think about whether I was doing it right. I simply kept going. After a few days, I had finished my first little piece.

It was one of the first things I had created with my own hands.

I knitted again and again. Two balls of yarn were my little treasure. I knitted, unravelled, and started over – until, eventually, the yarn was completely used up.

One of my earliest memories takes me back to a small yarn shop in Southern Italy, close to our home. A narrow, elongated space, filled from floor to ceiling with yarn and colour.

I was still so young that I could barely speak properly.

But I remember the feeling.

I looked at those walls filled with colours and balls of yarn and simply knew:

This is paradise.

Many decades later, my own path through life led me through difficult times, changes and experiences that repeatedly brought me back to the question:

Who am I – and what wants to come into the world through me?

It was a time of self-discovery.

And once again, threads, colours and spaces became part of my story. They accompanied me, gave me a form of expression, and became a language through which I gradually came to understand myself and the world around me more deeply.

Eventually, something new emerged from this journey: my own yarn and design shop.

A place where my love for material, colour, craft and design could find a home. A place where ideas take shape and people come together. A place where my own story meets the stories of others.

Today, eleven years later, this love has not become smaller.

Quite the opposite.

With every passing year, my appreciation has grown – for natural materials, for the people who create and work with them, for animals and for our environment. And for what becomes possible when we give ourselves the time to create something with our own hands.

Because I believe that something unique lives within every person.

An idea.

A colour.

A form.

A story.

A unique way of seeing the world.

My joy is to create spaces where that uniqueness can become visible.

To inspire people to trust their creativity, to explore, to make something with their hands – and perhaps, along the way, to discover something of themselves.

Just as I did when, as a child, I finally picked up my mother's knitting needles.

A thread. A movement. A beginning.

And perhaps that is how every story begins…
